How she got her name

3 days old

Apparently we like to name our kids after movie characters and grandpas and grandmas.  Apparently we like short and sweet first names.  Here's how we came up with our three girls' names.

Kit Virginia:
Kit was the little sister on the movie "A League of their Own".  When I mentioned it to Ryan one night he said he liked it and it just stuck.  We also thought that the K would be in honor of Ryan's Dad, Kevin.  Virginia is my Grandma's (my Mom's Mom's) middle name.  I didn't know her very well because she died when I was young but she was a classy and charming lady.

Lola Kay:
Lola's name came from a movie called "Broken Flowers". After we watched it in 2005 we fell in love with the name Lola and thought we might use it some day.  Lola means "strong woman", which suits her personality well.  Lola's middle name, Kay, is after my Dad.

Ava Louisa:
We found the name Ava in our baby name book and had no idea it was going to become the most popular name ever.  Even though I hate popular names, I've come to realize that not only is it too late to change her name, but it actually has a lot of meaning and I love it for her. Ava means "little bird", which fits her perfectly.  Ryan's grandpa's name is Avan, keeping the grandpa theme alive.  Her middle name, Louisa, comes from "The Sound of Music", as does my name. Also, it's similar to Ryan's mom's name, Luanne.

I think Kit is a perfect name for a little sister. Thank you for the sweet honor. And I like the coincidental fact that I am living in the state of Virginia.
