Ryan introduced the infamous flower dress into Ava's life when he helped a family in our neighborhood move. The lady that was moving threw this dress to Ryan and said "Here, you have a daughter". It hung in the closet for a while until one day Ava decided she wanted to wear it. I think she must feel like a princess in it because she's sooo obsessed with it. Here are just a few examples that show how much Ava loves her dress. (It's not that we don't like it...it's just that people are starting to wonder if we need handouts to afford some new clothes for her...just kidding.)
I didn't let her bring the dress to Disneyland because I didn't want her wearing it every day. There wasn't a day that went by that she didn't ask for it or throw fits because she wanted it. I told her that it was at home and she could wear it when we got back. We returned home at 1AM and even though she had been asleep in the car for hours the only thing she wanted to do was put on her flower dress and sleep in it.
Whenever Ava sees anyone she'll ask them "do you like my flower dress?" or she'll tell people "my daddy doesn't like my flower dress".
She often asks me, "Are you going to throw my dress into a fire?" (Yes, I guess I threatened to do that.)
I didn't want her to wear her dress on her birthday so I bought new dresses for Lola and Ava to try to convince her. It worked but if she could have unbuttoned the new dress she would have changed several times that day.
She has pulled it out of the dirty clothes. She doesn't care if it smells or if it has tons of stains on it. (Turpentine....and many of those stains are permanent.)
She said, "I'm going to wear this when I get married".
She loves to put her dress on early in the morning by herself. One morning she put it on and came down stairs. When she got to the last step she stood there and put her hand on her hip and posed.
I won't let her sleep in it, but that doesn't stop her from sleeping WITH it.
There was a week or two phase where she REFUSED to take a bath because she knew she'd have to take it off. She would stand there in her dress and watch Lola having fun in the bath.
These lovely pictures below show the recent damages. Sharpies!!!

Liesl that is SO FUNNY! Cute pics. I miss you guys, it feels like it has been such a long time. So by the way I have extra derby tickets if you guys want to come. Let me know!
She cracks me up. I was shocked to come over last week and see her in a different outfit!
When she get's married you can remind her that you already have her wedding dress!
I AM SURE SHE DOESNT NEED THIS ENCOURAGEMENT BUT hEY "AVE THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL DRESS"
She looks like you in the bottom picture....the eyes and the finger in the nose. haha.
That is hilarious!!!
that's hilarious! i can't wait to see her on her wedding day! ha ha!
Oh, come on, the dress isn't that bad and she only wears it about 5 days a week. Plus it looks great with her "ugly, ugly shoes" that Carter seemed to like so much. :)
Such a funny post!!! I love when little kids do stuff like this! Hey thanks for putting the Sensibly Styled button on your site! You da best!
That absolutely cracks me up!
I certainly love it that you caught Ava with her finger up her nose and that you posted it on the blog!! Mom
