My Dad is 60

We threw my Dad a surprise party for his 60th Birthday today. We had a Mexican fiesta complete with margaritas, burritos, sombreros, and even a piñata. I'm writing about this so promptly after the party because there were so many funny things that happened that I just really needed to share. I just added a few more pictures that Brent took at the party.

The cake was compliments of Krister and Sheri. (Wish they were there.)

Here is the piñata that Lori brought. It was hilarious. This Elmo is so generic that it was called "the red monster".

These videos are the funniest videos ever. You will love them. You have to make sure the volume is up loud enough so you don't miss anything.

New Milestone

Lola and Ava can now climb the ladder to the slide all by themselves. Ryan got a video of their first time. We had some people over so it's total "noise chaos" but it's funny how we are all cheering them on from inside the house. I am also really glad that we have documentation of our super long grass along the edge of the patio.

Home Made Shirts

I was inspired to make shirts for the girls when I saw these at the mall and didn't want to pay 20$ per shirt.

I noticed that it looked very similar to their easter dresses that I had made for them. So I made up my own sleeve and used the pattern for the rest and this is how it turned out. By the way, it only cost me $5.31 total.

Very Clever

I gave the girls a few non-hazardous items to play with in the bathroom while they waited for me to get out of the shower. What harm could it be to let them play with a box of bathroom supplies (no liquids of any kind involved)? When I got out of the shower I was amazed at the girls' creativity. They were drinking water from the toilet using contact cases. Very clever!!! I just reread this paragraph and it sounded like I was pleased that they had done this. I just want to make it clear that I'm not bragging.

Ava calls Gatorade "alligator". They were sick this week so she was asking for a lot of "alligator".

In nursery, the music lady passes out pictures of sunbeams glued to popsicle sticks for each kid to hold up while we sing "Jesus wants me for a sunbeam". The other day I opened a package of nail files that kind of look like popsicle sticks. It took me a minute to figure out what the girls were doing with my nail files. The were holding them in the air saying 'sunbeam'. How do they think of this stuff?

Party at the Park and Mother's Day

My friend invited us to her little girl's Bday party at the park the other day. Ryan got some great pictures of the girls. Lola and Ava especially liked the taffy in the eggs, Eliza's presents, the swings, and the balloons they got to take home.










Mother's day was a good day...excluding the handful of throw-up that Ava so generously spewed at me. When I woke up at 8am (because Ryan let me sleep in!!!!) Ryan miraculously had the girls in the bath. I was stunned because he never does that. He also made pancakes and fed the girls. That's all I wanted for Mother's day.

Animals!!!

We went to the petting zoo at Thanksgiving Point on saturday and the girls had a great time checking out all the animals. The first thing that I saw when we entered the petting zoo was a sign that said "don't chase the chickens". I don't know why I thought that was so funny. The second thing we saw was a donkey that snorted at us and scared the girls to tears. They didn't want to ride the ponies because of that. Here's the donkey right before the snort.

Portraits of Us

I just helped a friend start a blog and I didn't have any pictures of her so I stole a picture that resembled her from one of my favorite blogs. (Theblackapple.typepad.com) It looked cute on her blog so I wanted to find "portraits" of us too. This is what I found. The artist doesn't draw many guys so Ryan doesn't get one. I think the siamese twins look just like my girls, other than the fact that there are only three legs total.

Random

Ava Loves giving kisses. She doesn't know how long to hold one though. She'll sit there in your face for a few seconds.

We moved the girls' table into the family room and they read books while sitting at it all the time. Sometimes they stand on it and look out the window. That's probably safe.

Happy Birthday Mom. Lori brought the best boston cream pie. I think we all had seconds..or thirds.

This one is totally random, but for our anniversary, we saw "Swell Season" play. Here is Glen Hansard with his beat up guitar. If you have never seen the movie "Once" you really should.....And then you'll be really jealous that we got to see them.
